Calving on the Southern Plains
From January to March, the herds gather on the short-grass plains of Ndutu. This calving window draws heavy predator activity. It offers incredible wildlife density and fewer vehicles than the crossing season.

The Long Walk North
Between April and June, long columns move through the central and western Serengeti. As this is shoulder season, safari camps often offer better value while the landscapes are lush and green.

River Crossings to Kenya
From July to October, the herds push towards the Mara River. These dramatic crossings are highly sought-after, making it essential to book well in advance for the best viewing spots.

The Return Journey
