Balance paid closer to travel

Tanzania rewards thoughtful timing and an unhurried route. The Serengeti changes with the migration, Ngorongoro offers concentrated wildlife, Tarangire comes alive in the dry season, and Zanzibar makes a natural final chapter.

Your final proposal confirms current park fees, named camps, transport and availability for your dates. Seasonal wildlife movements are natural events and can never be guaranteed.

01

When to go

June to October is generally dry, with wildlife gathering around water and northern Serengeti crossings often occurring later in that period. January to March focuses on the southern Serengeti and Ndutu calving areas. Green-season travel brings dramatic skies and fewer vehicles.

  • January–March: southern plains and calving season
  • June–October: dry-season circuits and northern migration areas
  • November–December: green landscapes and moving herds

02

What to pack

Pack light layers for cool dawn drives and warm afternoons. Soft-sided luggage is important when the route includes light aircraft, and neutral colours are practical in the bush.

  • Warm fleece, breathable shirts and neutral trousers
  • Closed shoes, sun protection and insect repellent
  • Binoculars, spare camera batteries and a power bank
  • Soft-sided luggage within the airline’s confirmed allowance

03

What shapes the cost

Season, camp location, route length and transport create the biggest changes. A camp close to the wildlife or a flight between distant areas costs more, but can return valuable hours to the safari.

  • Named lodge or camp and meal basis
  • Park, concession and crater service fees
  • Private 4x4, scheduled flight or charter
  • Number of travellers and single-room supplements

04

Build a logical route

A northern circuit commonly links Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. Longer journeys can add southern parks or Zanzibar, but each move should earn its place rather than repeat the same experience.

  • Tarangire → Ngorongoro → Serengeti
  • Serengeti migration area matched to the month
  • Finish on Zanzibar when a beach extension suits the trip
