Balance paid closer to travel

Rwanda is the shortest route to a gorilla. Kigali's airport is calm and efficient, the road to Volcanoes National Park is tarmac the whole way, and the lodges at the trailhead are among the best-built in Africa.

That convenience is priced in — Rwanda's permits are the most expensive in the region — but for travellers with limited leave, a three or four-night trip delivers an experience that would otherwise take a week.

01

Beyond the gorillas

Nyungwe Forest, in the south-west, has a canopy walkway suspended above the treetops and habituated chimpanzee groups. Akagera, on the Tanzanian border, is a full Big Five park again after a decade of rhino and lion reintroductions.

Lake Kivu sits between the two — a soft, warm, bilharzia-free lake for a couple of nights of doing nothing at all.

02

Permits and fitness

Gorilla permits are limited and allocated per family, so dates drive everything. Golden monkey trekking in the bamboo zone is a gentler add-on that most guests underrate.

Treks last two to six hours at altitude. Porters carry your day pack and help on the steep sections; we book one per traveller by default.

03

When to go

June to mid-September is the long dry season and the easiest underfoot. December to February is a shorter dry window. The rains, from March to May, bring dramatic light and quieter trails.

04

Where Rwanda fits

Rwanda works beautifully as a three-night finale to a Kenyan or Tanzanian plains safari, or as a bookend with Uganda for travellers who want both gorillas and chimpanzees.

Questions about luxury rwanda safaris

Is the itinerary really free?

Yes. You receive a costed, day-by-day itinerary with no payment and no obligation. You only pay once you decide to secure the trip.

What does the quoted price include?

Accommodation, meals as listed, your private guide and vehicle, park and conservancy fees and the transfers or flights shown. Every inclusion and exclusion is listed line by line on your proforma.

How do I secure my safari?

A 50% deposit holds your camps and flights. The balance is due closer to departure, and we send reminders well ahead of the due date.

Can I change the itinerary?

Anything can change before you book: camps, number of nights, the order of parks, adding a beach finish or switching between luxury and ultra-luxury.

Is it a group tour?

No. Every journey is private — your own guide and vehicle, leaving when you are ready and stopping when you want.

Every Perch Africa journey is built from scratch.

Tell us your dates, your travelling party and your budget and we will come back with a costed itinerary, real camp availability and a clear price — no templates.
