Ruaha National Park
Ruaha is a rugged landscape defined by ancient baobab trees and the Great Ruaha River. It is home to roughly ten percent of the world's remaining lion population. Because the park receives few vehicles, sightings of large elephant herds or hunting prides often feel like private discoveries.
The dry season from June to October is optimal, as wildlife congregates around dwindling water sources, making predators easier to spot.

Nyerere National Park
Formerly the Selous, Nyerere is one of Africa's largest protected areas. Its unique hydrology allows for diverse activities beyond traditional game drives. You can explore the intricate channels of the Rufiji River by boat, watching hippos and crocodiles from the water.

Logistics and Access
Reaching these southern outposts requires light aircraft transfers from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar. While the flight time is longer, the transition from a bush camp to a white-sand beach is exceptionally smooth.
We recommend packing light, soft-sided bags for these small bush planes, which typically have a strict 15kg luggage limit.
