Central Serengeti (Seronera)
The Seronera Valley remains a premier destination due to its permanent water sources. This valley holds resident lion, leopard, and cheetah populations year-round, making it a reliable choice regardless of the month.
Expect higher vehicle concentrations here, but the diversity of resident predators and plains game offers consistent, high-quality viewing through both the green and dry seasons.

Following the Great Migration
To see the herds, location is everything. The southern plains are best during the calving season, roughly January to March. Conversely, the northern Mara River area is the place for dramatic river crossings from July to October.
Mobile tented camps are an excellent option as they relocate seasonally to track the herds, providing proximity to the action as it unfolds across the landscape.

Moving Between Areas by Air
The Serengeti features several regional airstrips like Seronera and Kogatende. Using light-aircraft flights to connect these zones allows you to split your stay between two distinct areas without losing an entire day to driving on bumpy, unpaved roads.
Flying provides a spectacular perspective of the Rift Valley and maximizes your actual time spent on game drives.
