Clothing and Layers
Neutral tones such as khaki, olive and brown work better than bright colours or brilliant white, which show dust quickly and can stand out to animals. Avoid camouflage patterns, which are reserved for military personnel in many regions.
Layers matter more than heavy items: early morning game drives are often genuinely cold, while afternoons warm up fast, so a packable fleece or light jacket always earns its space.

A decent pair of binoculars does more for the experience than almost any other item, since many sightings are at a distance. Don't forget a universal power adapter for your electronics.
Add a camera if photography matters to you, plus high-factor sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat and a headlamp for camps where paths between tents aren't always brightly lit at night.

Bags and Laundry Services
Light-aircraft transfers between national parks typically cap luggage at around 15kg per person in a soft-sided duffel bag, since hard suitcases simply don't fit the limited hold space.
Most luxury camps offer reliable same-day or next-day laundry, which is the easiest way to travel lighter than you might initially expect.
