Romantic safari experiences in East Africa
For couples, it's often the small touches that define a safari: a sundowner over the plains, a private dinner under the stars, a night spent sleeping in the open air.
Kenya Honeymoon Safari · romantic safari · Zanzibar honeymoon
East Africa's camps have built a number of genuinely romantic rituals into the safari experience, well beyond simply booking a nice room.
Knowing which ones are available at which camps helps build a honeymoon or anniversary trip around the moments that matter most to you.

01
Sundowners
Stopping the vehicle at a scenic viewpoint for a drink as the sun sets is a long-standing safari tradition, and many guides will scout a particular spot in advance for a couple celebrating an occasion.

02
Star beds and sleep-outs
A number of camps across the region offer an open-air platform, sometimes wheeled out from the main tent, where a bed is made up for the night directly under the stars, with a guard nearby for safety.

03
Private dining
Bush breakfasts set up away from camp and private dinners lit by lanterns are commonly arranged, usually with notice given to the camp in advance so they can prepare the setting and staffing.
